Bicho was born in 2021, at Póvoa de Varzim, as the town’s first sourdough bakery, with a small cafe doing simple breakfast. A few months in, we spiced up the menu with more breakfast options and a monthly-rotating lunch lineup, all made with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients whenever we can. We expanded our bakery to accommodate a wholesale service - these days, we’re supplying bread to dozens of restaurants across northern Portugal, mostly around Porto. Along the way, we’ve run some pizza pop-ups, both in Póvoa de Varzim and Porto. In July 2024, we decided to get Bicho a bit further by opening a second location in Porto, where you can grab our bread, pastries, and enjoy breakfast or lunch.
